Self-Efficacy is necessary to manage pain. There is a tendency to feel defeated by pain. This workshop will highlight the role of self-efficacy to overcome some of the limitations that we put on ourselves because of the experience pain. Open to everyone, including people living with Sickle Cell disease.
Speaker: Dr. Lance Archer holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. He is a psychologist (supervised practice) at the West Niagara Psychology Centre in Beamsville, Ontario, where he conducts psychological assessments and treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. He has experience treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, as well as the psychological impact of living with chronic illnesses. Dr. Archer lives with Sickle Cell Disease (HbSS) and is passionate about improving the quality of life of patients with the disease. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario (SCAGO) and is the Co-Chair of SCAGO’s Patient Advisory and Advocacy Council (PAAC).
