This 1-hour workshop will describe the recently updated IMPACT program, an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) based program. Participants will learn about ACT and how it can help us respond to pain in more helpful ways and reconnect with values. They will learn some concrete tools that they can use to decrease the impact of pain (physical and emotional) on their ability to engage in a life that matters.

Speaker: Dr. Brigitte Sabourin is a clinical health psychology who has worked with individuals with chronic pain for almost 10 years. She is passionate about increasing access to behavioural treatments for chronic pain through novel and accessible programs. She was one of the leaders in developing the IMPACT (Internet-delivered Multidisciplinary Pain Acceptance and Commitment Program) program. Dr. Sabourin has presented her research and knowledge in this area at conferences and events across Canada, including to the Canadian Pain Society, The Arthritis Society, and as part of the Manitoba Psychological Society’s Psychology Month Talks.
